The Socialist Party took advantage of the session to announce the filing of a motion of no confidence against François Bayrou’s government. The leader of the Socialist group, Boris Vallaud, reproached the Prime Minister for not having referred the pension reform bill back to Parliament, which would have allowed debate on raising the legal retirement age to 64.

Yesterday, the latest pension summit took place, bringing with it hope for a solution. Unfortunately, after several hours of discussions, no agreement was reached between the unions and employers. In this context, the deputy from Landes inevitably returned to the issue this afternoon. “Despite this failure, will you, as you committed, promptly submit a new bill paving the way for reform, without sacred cows or taboos?” he asked the Prime Minister.

Paris, June 24, 2025, ARNAUD CESAR VILETTE / OLA NEWS / SIPA PRESS

François Bayrou replied that there was a “path to break the deadlock,” without clearly committing.
