CHANTILLY, June 15 (OLA NEWS) – Christophe Soumillon claimed a commanding victory in the prestigious 2025 Prix de Diane Longines this Sunday at the Chantilly Racecourse, reaffirming his status as one of the sport’s elite jockeys. Riding Gezora, a filly from the Wertheimer & Frère stable, Soumillon led the 2,100-meter race for three-year-old fillies with confidence and control.
The day unfolded under clear skies and drew a record crowd to Chantilly, a spectacle of elegance and excitement. Thousands gathered on the lawns and grandstands, draped in Longines colors, for what is widely considered the most glamorous event of the French racing calendar.
Gezora, trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias, broke away in the final stretch, leaving Matawa (ridden by Mickaël Barzalona) and Fleur du Nord to fight for the remaining podium places.
On the winner’s podium, a visibly emotional Soumillon dedicated the win to his children:
“Winning here at Chantilly is always something special. The Prix de Diane has a magic atmosphere. I’m grateful to the entire team and especially to my filly—she was brilliant today.”
Hosted by France Galop, the Prix de Diane is not only a major racing event but also a celebration of French style and tradition. Fashionable hats, elegant outfits, and chic picnics lined the racecourse, making it a highlight of the social and sporting season.
