Paris, July 8, 2025 (OLA NEWS) – Hundreds gathered in central Paris yesterday to protest the controversial Duplomb Law, with farmers, environmentalists, and activists uniting in a colorful and determined demonstration calling for a halt to toxic pesticides and greater protection for biodiversity.
Protesters, many wearing green shirts emblazoned with the names of key organizations such as Générations Futures and Greenpeace, marched behind banners reading “STOP AUX TOXIQUES – TROP DE VICTIMES!” and “Votez contre la loi Duplomb.” The demonstration drew a broad coalition, including agricultural unions, environmental associations, and collectives like CIWF France, all voicing concerns over the law’s perceived threat to both public health and the future of farming.
Farmers present at the rally expressed fears that the Duplomb Law would weaken restrictions on chemical pesticides, putting their livelihoods and the environment at risk. “Le futur vous regarde” (“The future is watching you”) read one sign, highlighting generational anxiety. Speakers with megaphones denounced the law as a step backward for ecological transition, warning that it could accelerate pollinator decline and endanger rural communities.
As lawmakers prepare to debate the bill, demonstrators insist that meaningful agricultural reform must prioritize health, biodiversity, and sustainable livelihoods. Associations and unions pledged to maintain pressure, warning that failure to act could have dire consequences for both the countryside and the climate.
